A Quick Look at the Sega CDX

The Sega Genesis CDX is one of my favorite items in my console collection. My affinity toward it is based almost entirely on utility; The CDX loads Sega CD games lightning fast* and is also a portable CD player for on-the-go music! What more could a boy ask for? Here is a video of me looking at the console. Enjoy! *Some lightning is very slow.…
Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park for Sega CD Was the Best Jurassic Park Game You Never Heard Of

Back in the 1990s, Sega thought it was unstoppable — unstoppable enough that it launched an absurdly overpriced add-on to the Genesis called the Sega CD. The charm of the Sega CD was that it had Sonic CD. The downside, however, is that there was very little else on the console that was even remotely worthy of your time. One of the most tragically overlooked exceptions to that rule was Jurassic Park, a Myst-like adventure game that helped you learn factoids about dinosaurs that Michael Crichton totally made up. The Sega CD Was Basically a $300 Sonic CD Machine

I played a lot of Sega Genesis as a kid. Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, ToeJam & Earl — that console had some really great games. So when the Sega CD came out, obviously I had to have it. With the Sega CD’s asking price at $299.99, that was 75 hours of pre-teen slave labor. But I wanted that Sega CD, so I persisted, and I finally got my hands on the console (which, by the way, was an add-on to the original Genesis, meaning you couldn’t play at all if you didn’t first purchase a Genesis.)…

Sonic CD Is a Fantastic Game, Even on the OUYA

On August 2, 2013, OUYA early backers were awarded $13.37 in store credit as an apology for the many consoles that shipped later than promised. The following day, the recipients of that payout were given something worth spending $3.99 of that on. Sonic CD is now on OUYA. I’m playing it right now. While typing this. No, I’m serious. I’m just going to be real here for a second. If you don’t think Sonic CD is the best Sonic game ever made, then you have horrible taste in Sonic games. And if the following video doesn’t remind you of your childhood, then I feel sorry for your childhood.…
