Grandia HD Collection Is Getting a Limited Run Physical Edition on the Nintendo Switch

The late 1990s and early 2000s were a grand time to be a fan of JRPGs. From Final Fantasy VII and Wild Arms to remakes of the Lunar games, some of the best RPGs of all time were released in this era.
If JRPGs in the PSone and PS2 era are your jam, then you’re probably also familiar with Grandia.
When Grandia originally came out it 1997, it was a Sega Saturn release exclusive to Japan, but it made its way Westward eventually, releasing for the PlayStation in 1999. A sequel, Grandia II, was originally released for the Sega Dreamcast in 2000, but it eventually landed on PS2 two years later. In 2019, more than two decades after the initial release of the first Grandia game, the two finally became playable on a single console with the Grandia HD Collection for Nintendo Switch.

If you still haven’t played either of these games, a physical edition of Grandia HD Collection for Nintendo Switch is on the way thanks to the folks at Limited Run Games. It features a lovely reversible cover (and if you order two copies, you’re guaranteed to have them sealed to display both versions).

The physical edition of the game will go up for preorder on August 7, 2020, and there will be a four-week preorder window. If you miss your window, you’ll have to look to the used market to soothe your physical Grandia cartridge itch. And we know from experience that these games fetch a hefty price in the secondhand market. So head over to the Limited Run website and get your preorder in while you’ve got the chance.
Of course, if you don’t want to wait for the physical edition, you can purchase Grandia HD Collection digitally right now in the Nintendo eShop.
