Half-Glass Gaming [Episode 24] : No Christmas for Piper
We’re rude dudes with holiday ‘tude this week, and we’re almost as festive as a Witcher in a Santa suit. Get treats excited, because Mandi spies some more ridiculous billboards, Josh gifts himself a Super Nintendo, Julian gets cranky over meat, and the Reverend, always the creepy uncle of the group, drinks a lot and makes innuendos. Best holiday ever, right?
And it doesn’t end there, as we continue our celebration by talking about festival and seasonal content in video games. We’ve got snow in Grand Theft Auto Online, festive pranks in Bully, Jester Day in Skyrim, holiday cheer in Diamond City in Fallout 4, and so much more.
And no, no one’s warmed up to Piper yet (though we’re pretty sure Josh still kind of digs her).
Whether you’re a Grinch, a Scrooge, or a jolly Saint Nick, you know your ears want you to unwrap this bundle of joy right freaking now.

I thought there might not be an episode on account of the holidays. Seeing this on the site was a nice little present. Assuming Josh has no problems with his Super Nintendo, I’d like to suggest a few games to him. I don’t know how much they cost, but Mickey Mania, Asterix & Obelix, The Firemen, King of Demons and Terranigma are all lesser known games I enjoyed very much.
Fear not, Jimmy, we always aim to post new episodes EVERY Wednesday regardless of the time of year. Stay tuned next week for our ultra special episode and keep them ears perked, I have a feeling Terranigma is already on the HGG radar.. Happy Holidays Jimmy!
24 weeks in a row without a single missed episode… We’re not ready to break our perfect streak quite yet. It has been a little tough getting episodes together during the holidays, but we’re making it work because of listeners like you! And, like Julian mentioned, we’ve got a double-stuffed episode planned for next week. Hope you love it!
Glad you guys still did an episode. Most of my media is on break right now. As for the topic, my favourite holiday content this year was in Hearthstone.Happy Feast of Winterveil!
Thanks for the pre-holiday listen!
Another person who didn’t think you’d do an episode today. No complaints here, though. I actually don’t like holiday events in games that much but I do like seasons. Bully is one of the best games of all time.
Bully is one of the best. Here’s to hoping for a sequel.
Every time we talk about Bully, I want to hook up my Xbox 360 and pick up the Scholarship Edition.
I just want to go wreck havoc at a prep school.
Do it! It’s one of those games I don’t ever get sick of. Perfect to play at Christmas too.
I keep arguing with myself about the game. What I’ve heard sounds kind of fun, but at the same time I have an internal, kneejerk reaction to anything that even has a *hint* of glorifying bullying.
– The Reverend
The game is not about being a bully. It’s about standing up to a bully. But it’s more about hanging out in school and being a kid.
I saw a video of robot Santa in Fallout 4 but I think it was just a mod. Thinking about it I don’t think I play games with seasons or holiday stuff except when I used to play World of Warcraft.
Thanks for listening, even during the holidays! It’s listeners (and commenters) like you who make our holiday episodes special!
Mandy played mmos in the 90’s? What games did they even have then, just Everquest and Ultima? Anyway they had Christmas hats for the dinosaurs in Ark.
I played The Realm Online, a really old turn-based MMO made by Sierra. I remember it being pretty fun, but I imagine it hasn’t aged well.
Wow really? How would you even play games online from back then though, you would have been just a kid.
I think we’re all older than you suspect. I was in high school when The Realm Online came out.
