Let’s Play CrossCode with PixelPixelRadio

CrossCode

CrossCode isn’t a retro game — it’s currently available on the PS4, XBox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. However, it has a lovely pixel-art visual style, alongside some action-RPG-meets-twin-stick-shooter combat. While this game is far too complex to have worked on something like the SNES, it does have a classical feel to it.

It features a character named Lea, who is trapped in a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). She suffers from memory loss, as well as the loss of her ability to speak, and she is re-entering the game at level 1. Of course, there are characters in the gameworld who remember who she is, and they seem to have devious plans for her future.

CrossCode

It’s an intriguing premise with enough classic design sensibility that even the most hardened retro game veterans will find a lot to love here. So we’ve been happily cheering on PixelPixelRadio‘s live-streamed playthrough of CrossCode. We’ve also been archiving the playthrough as it happens, so you can watch the full thing below.

Oh, and it’s quite long, so grab yourself a jumbo-sized coffee and a blanket, as well as several days’ worth of snacks.
