There Are Some Fantastic Retro Games Bundles on Sale on PS4 Right Now

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Bundle

I get it. Old games are usually best enjoyed on the original console, the way they were intended to be played. However, sometimes it’s just more convenient to download a cheap game bundle than it is to track down a cartridge or CD (or even worse, an arcade cabinet) from 30 years ago. All things considered, I do think the retro-games-on-modern-consoles thing is an overall positive for game enthusiasts.

If you’re a PS4 owner who agrees with me on that, you should definitely be eyeballing the PlayStation Store right now. There are some great deals on game bundles from yesteryear.

Of course, the sale ends on July 22, 2020, so you should get on that right away.

Crash + Spyro Triple Play Bundle ($59.99)

Crash + Spyro Triple Play Bundle

The Crash + Spyro Triple Play Bundle is going for $59.99. This bundle normally goes for $99.99, making this a whopping 40% off. While that looks like just three games on the surface, two of those are actually bundles already, meaning this is actually seven classic PSOne games.

These aren’t completely accurate representations of the original games, of course — these have been completely rebuilt in modern game engines, and many of these games also include new features that weren’t present in the original.

Here’s the full list of what’s included:

  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
    • Crash Bandicoot
    • Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back
    • Crash Bandicoot: Warped
  • Spyro Reignited Trilogy
    • Spyro the Dragon
    • Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage
    • Spyro: Year of the Dragon
  • Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection ($14.79)

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Bundle

If you’re more of a fan of flying fists than cartoony 3D platforming and exploration, then the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection might be a better fit for your particularly punchy tastes. This bundle is typically $39.99, but it’s sitting at a very tempting $14.79.

And this thing is jam-packed. All of the games are based on the arcade versions, and some of them even feature online play. Note that Super Street Fighter II: The Tournament Battle is not included in this bundle, as that game is exclusive to the Switch version of the bundle for some reason.

Here’s the list of included titles (straight off of Wikipedia):

Capcom Beat ’em Up Bundle ($9.99)

Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle

Admittedly, I have a soft spot for classic beat-’em-ups (which probably started with the Streets of Rage series), so the Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle is a real treasure. It features the arcade versions of seven Capcom classics.

This collection normally sells for $19.99, but a 50% slash brings it down to $9.99.

Here’s the list:

  • Final Fight
  • The King of Dragons
  • Captain Commando
  • Knights of the Round
  • Warriors of Fate
  • Armored Warriors
  • Battle Circuit

Mega Man 30th Anniversary Bundle ($40.19)

Mega Man Legacy

Capcom is really on a roll (pun intended)? The Mega Man 30th Anniversary Bundle sees a discount as well, with the $59.99 asking price reduced to $40.19. This is the biggest collection on this list, featuring almost two dozen games. The sheer volume of games collected in this pack, on top of the fact that it’s all Mega Man, makes this purchase a $40 no-brainer.

While latecomer Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection is excluded from this mega-bundle, it includes four Legacy Collections and 2018’s smash hit Mega Man 11.

Here’s a full list:

  • Mega Man Legacy Collection
    • Mega Man
    • Mega Man 2
    • Mega Man 3
    • Mega Man 4
    • Mega Man 5
    • Mega Man 6
  • Mega Man Legacy Collection 2
    • Mega Man 7
    • Mega Man 8
    • Mega Man 9
    • Mega Man 10
  • Mega Man X Legacy Collection
    • Mega Man X
    • Mega Man X2
    • Mega Man X3
    • Mega Man X4
  • Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2
    • Mega Man X5
    • Mega Man X6
    • Mega Man X7
    • Mega Man X8
  • Mega Man 11

Jak and Daxter Bundle

Jak and Daxter Bundle

Okay, so I’m cheating a little bit here. While the Jak and Daxter Bundle is selling for the usual price of $39.99, all four games in the bundle are on sale individually, which makes buying the one-off versions cheaper than buying the bundle right now ($29.96 as opposed to $39.99).

  • Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy ($7.49)
  • Jak II ($7.49)
  • Jak 3 ($7.49)
  • Jak X: Combat Racing ($7.49)

There’s still more…

Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner - M∀RS

On top of these great deals, there are some more discounted retro games that aren’t bundled (note that these are generally remakes/remasters). Here’s a list:

  • Arcade Game Series: Ms. Pac-Man ($1.99)
  • Brick Breaker ($4.49)
  • MediEvil ($14.99)
  • Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner – M∀RS ($7.49)
