Moon: Remix RPG Adventure Is Coming to America at Long Last

Moon: Remix RPG Adventure

1997’s Moon: Remix RPG Adventure is a bit like Mother 3 in that it’s a hugely influential role-playing game about love that was never officially released outside of Japan. Also like Mother 3, Toby Fox has cited Moon as an inspiration for his masterpiece Undertale. Unlike Mother 3, however, Moon is actually coming to North America this month.

The game, described as “the anti-RPG” was created by Love-de-Lic, a team that included several folks who had left Square in the 1990s. Love-de-Lic was disbanded in 2000, but three of its members — Yoshiro Kimura, Kurashima Kazuyuki, and Hirofumi Taniguchi — are now running Onion Games.

Onion Games brought a port of Moon: Remix RPG Adventure to the Nintendo Switch in 2019, but that was exclusive to Japan. Finally, on August 27, 2020, Moon will arrive on the Switch in North America, fully translated (and localized) into English.

Moon: Remix RPG Adventure

According to the Onion Games website:

Have you ever played an RPG and wondered…

“Why is it OK that this hero is breaking into houses and stealing items from people’s drawers??”

“Why is it OK that this hero is killing thousands of innocent monsters??”

Moon is a game about turning those tropes upside down, and seeing what really happens behind the scenes of your favorite RPG videogames.

Moon: Remix RPG Adventure will be available in the Nintendo eShop on Switch on August 27, 2020.
